A historic town in Middlesex County, 20 miles west of Boston and the birthplace of the American Revolution. Site of the Battles of Lexington and Concord where “the shot heard ’round the world” was fired on April 19, 1775. Known for its remarkable 19th-century literary heritage—home to Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Louisa May Alcott, and Nathaniel Hawthorne. Features Walden Pond, preserved open spaces, family-owned farms, and thriving retail districts in Concord Center and West Concord. MBTA commuter rail service to Boston available.
